This clavichord is unfretted except for the two highest notes (c#3-d3). With C as the lowest note 50 pairs of strings are needed. The instrument consequently has 100 tuning pins, but rather surprisingly 102 hitch pins and 102 bridge pins. The pins used by the strings are chosen according to the present state of the instrument.
