The treble end of the 8-foot bridge is a replacement that never got the missing 14 bridge pins. The positions for these missing pins have been reconstructed.

There are 18 4-foot bridge pins but only 16 strings. Two bridge pins have apparently been added after stringing to get a better match between 4-foot and 8-foot strings. The original bridge pins are probably 1-12 and 14-17, as can be seen from the regular distribution. In the treble the result was that the 4-foot strings were very close to, or even beyond, the front edge of the tangent. By adding the two pins and replacing the strings as shown all the 4-foot strings will be positioned between the two 8-foot strings at the tangent.
