From the rack pattern it is possible to reconstruct a probable inch used for the construction of the instrument. This inch is the equivalent of the width of a natural. The clavichord is built in Hamburg, but the Hamburg inch is different, which makes it probable that the inch used here is a workshop inch. For a maker this is a practical choice, as it makes the marking out of the keyboard easy.

The interpretation of the rack pattern shown in the second line of the graph is based on a foot of 275 mm, giving the analyzed workshop inch of 22.92 mm.
